Education

• PhD in Information Science & Library Management.
• Master of Arts (MA) in Information Science & Library Management.
• Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Information Science & Library Management.
• University of Dhaka, Rajshahi University students will get preference.

Additional Requirements

• Demonstrated expertise in using and managing ILS software and digital library tools.
• Strong knowledge of academic research practices, collection development, and information literacy instruction.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
• At least 10 years of experience as a librarian of a university.

Job Responsibilities & Context

As an academic librarian, you'll need to:

1. Develop and manage resource collections including books, journals, databases, and digital content to support academic and research programs.
2. Professionally operate and maintain Integrated Library System (ILS) software for cataloging, circulation, acquisitions, and overall library management.
3. Catalog and classify materials using recognized standards to ensure efficient access and retrieval of information.
4. Deliver digital and information literacy instruction to students, faculty, and researchers through tailored workshops and training sessions.
5. Provide expert research support, including conducting advanced literature searches and offering guidance on academic databases and citation tools.
6. Serve as an academic liaison, collaborating with departments to align library services with teaching and research priorities.
7. Oversee archives and special collections, implementing preservation practices and facilitating user access.
8. Respond to enquiries and offer reference services, both in-person and remotely, through individual consultations and group support.
9. Manage subject-specific budgets and make evidence-based purchasing and subscription decisions.
10. Engage in ongoing professional development, staying current with trends in library technology, research practices, and user needs.
11. Perform any other duties as assigned by the management of the University.
