Professor Dr Atiur Rahman is an Academic Advisor of UCSI University Bangladesh Branch Campus.

Professor Dr Atiur Rahman, a distinguished economist with a robust academic background, holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Economics and a Master of Science (MS) in Economics from the University of London. He also completed his B.A. (Honors) in Economics at the University of Dhaka. With a wealth of knowledge and experience, Professor Dr Rahman has left an indelible mark on the fields of economics, development studies, and financial sector supervision.

Currently serving as an Academic Advisor in UCSI University Bangladesh Branch Campus, Professor Dr Atiur Rahman has a strong history of academic contributions. He has previously held the position of professor within the same department and is currently the Bangabandhu Professor in the Department of History at the University of Dhaka. Notably, he also chairs the Executive Committee of the University's Center for Advanced Research in Arts and Social Sciences (CARASS).

Professor Dr Rahman has earned his reputation as the "Poor Nations' Economist" and the "Green Governor" due to his multifaceted career. His remarkable journey in the field of economics began with research at the Bangladesh Institute of Development Studies before joining Dhaka University as a Professor of Development Studies in 2006. In 2009, he was appointed as the tenth governor of the Bangladesh Bank, the monetary and financial sector supervision authority in Bangladesh, and served in this role for about seven years.

Beyond his academic and governmental roles, Professor Dr Rahman is actively involved in various organizations. He is a Fellow of the Bangla Academy and a Life Member of the Asia Society, Bangladesh, as well as the Bangladesh Economic Association. Notably, he serves as a special advisor for Social Innovation Japan (SIJ) in Tokyo, contributing his expertise to a diverse platform of change makers.

Professor Dr Atiur Rahman is also the Chairman of Unnayan Shamannay, a globally recognized think tank that he founded in 1994. His contributions extend to the literary world as well, with over seventy books to his credit in both English and Bengali.

Furthermore, his professional roles include serving as the Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Center for Advanced Research in Arts and Social Sciences (CARASS), a Senior Fellow at the Bangladesh Institute of Development Studies (BIDS), and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Unnayan Shamannay, a civil society think-tank specializing in research advocacy on socio-economic and environmental issues. Additionally, he chairs the Board of Directors of the Dhaka School of Bank Management, a subsidiary of the Bangladesh Institute of Bank Management (BIBM) affiliated with Dhaka University.
